Strolling along Hopkins Street in Aspen, CO, is a fun exploration in our culinary options. There are 3 relative newcomers very close to each other – Meat and Cheese, White House Tavern and Hooch. They fit together very well in this corner of town. The founder of Avalanche Cheese Company in Basalt, Wendy Mitchell, opened Meat and Cheese 2 years ago and they have developed a very loyal following among locals and visitors alike. Try one of their signature boards, unique cocktails and their legendary Thai coconut soup. You may think you are in an urban eatery until you look up and see Red Mountain in the setting sun.
There are some changes upon us at Lift One! After 31 years the property managers, Mac Boelens and Mary Upton, have decided to retire! In this quiet corner of Aspen, CO, they have dedicated themselves to creating a unique and welcoming lodge and Aspen vacation rentals at Lift One Condominiums. Their mark will never be forgotten as they have created a way of management and customer service that the Board of Managers and the new property managers are determined to continue.
From their detailed attention to each and every guest’s needs, to the impeccable upkeep of every unit, as well as the team that works together to welcome one and all, this will continue to be the mission of the new management team.
You may recognize the new managers! Mauro and Molly Faath are thrilled to assume the position and follow through and continue with Mac and Mary’s vision. Mauro just celebrated his 15th year as a maintenance employee with Lift One and Molly worked at the front desk from 2007 – 2013. They are absolutely delighted with this new adventure and can’t wait to welcome back all of the returning guests they have known throughout the years as well as the new!
For those of you who just can’t imagine Lift One without Mac and Mary, don’t worry! They will be helping Mauro and Molly with the transition over the next year. Rest assured, they will be popping around here and there, helping out and welcoming guests. No one can really imagine an Aspen visit to Lift One without them, so we are all elated that they will help guide and train Mauro and Molly in every detail.
As much as most will stay the same, you will notice small changes here and there. We hope you love them but if you don’t please don’t hesitate to come talk to us. We are here for you as we have always been, waiting to make your next vacation to Aspen and Lift One the most memorable for you, your family and friends.
See you this summer!!
Can it be true? Aspen Food and Wine Classic 2017 is less than a month away? This is the 35th anniversary for the Classic in Aspen and as always we are getting down and dirty in our preparations for welcoming everyone back to Lift One. Per usual, all the tickets are already sold for this year, but if you like international food festivals, say with a few Top Chefs and rubbing shoulders with famous personalities, mark your calendar to buy tickets for 2018! It is the signature event for Food and Wine Magazine and it is not to be missed!
After Food and Wine, the summer is a constant stream of music, events and outdoor fun! June 29th is the start of the Aspen Music Festival which goes until August 20th this year. Some highlights include Renee Fleming on July 30th, Garrison Keillor performing his “Love and Comedy” Show on August 14th and Edgar Meyer on August 17th.
The Aspen Ideas Fest is from June 22nd – July 1st. Aspen Ideas Festival is the nation’s premier, public gathering place for leaders from around the globe and across many disciplines to present and discuss the ideas and issues that both shape our lives and challenge our times. Followed shortly after is a very special time in Aspen with the Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration. This year July 4th falls on a Tuesday so come and make an extra-long weekend out of the holiday! The last big festival of the summer is the MotherLode Volleyball Tournament over Labor Day, this year on August 30-September 4th.
Besides all of our amazing annual events, some of our favorite Aspen summer hot spots are the Farmer’s Market, Saturday Classical Music and Bluegrass Sundays on the top of Aspen Mountain, the Belly Up and the Wheeler Opera House.
More art, music and performances are to be had at Theater Aspen (this year one of the shows is Hairspray!), Snowmass Free Summer Concerts, Jas Aspen Snowmass June 22nd – July 1st and September 1-3rd, and the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet.
For those history buffs we also have our wonderful historical tours with Aspen Walking Tours, and the Aspen Historical Society.
As you can see, when you visit Aspen in the summer, it won’t be hard to pack your calendar from morning until night! Give us a call to book your stay or ask our wonderful front desk staff any questions you may have! We look forward to seeing you!
