Float high above the Rocky Mountains on a memorable hot air balloon ride with your loved one. Snowmass has played host to the annual Snowmass Balloon Festival every September for more than four decades. Comes see the mountain sky filled with balloons or plan your own romantic ride during the warmer months. Local vendors offer romantic packages specifically for couples that include enhancements like champagne and fresh strawberries. 

Ice Skating

The Silver Circle Ice Rink in downtown Aspen provides an iconic backdrop for a romantic skate. Take a romantic stroll around downtown during the winter months and make your way to the outdoor rink on Durant Avenue. It’s the perfect stop on a romantic Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve outing, or any time of winter. 

Gondola Rides

Take a romantic gondola ride to the top of Aspen Mountain for dining at the Sundeck or exploring the mountain’s many activities. During the winter, experience some of the world’s best skiing and snowboarding. In the summer, explore the many hiking and biking trails of “Ajax,” along with disc golf and lots of fun stuff for kids. The Silver Queen Gondola is located on Durant Avenue in downtown Aspen. Tickets are available at the ticket office at Gondola Plaza.

Romantic Hikes

Active couples will love the inspiring and scenic hikes of Aspen Snowmass. From early morning hikes to sunset favorites, the area offers an abundance of romantic spots that require a little work to get there. Couples can start with a moderate hike on Smuggler Mountain and head to the outlook post at the top of the trail for panoramic views of town and Aspen Mountain. More active couples can challenge themselves on the Ute Trail hike on Aspen Mountain. The narrow, difficult trail will test your mettle, but reward you with a one-of-a-kind romantic view from a rock outcropping along the way.

Aspen is known for the finer things in life and the town’s fine dining experiences are second to none. The town presents a long list of five-star dining experiences as well as several quaint eateries and local’s favorite spots.
