Choosing the right accommodations for your Colorado getaway can often make or break your vacation. There are a ton of lodging choices in Aspen and sifting through the list is a daunting task. Below, we delve into the pros and cons of Aspen vacation planning. We have tips and tricks that can take the burden off decision-making and get you set up for the vacation of a lifetime.
Location, Location, Location
The first question you’ll need to answer is where you want to stay. Aspen Snowmass has four nearby ski mountains: Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass. The most popular option is to select a lodging in downtown Aspen. The lifts to Aspen Mountain are in downtown Aspen, and many condos are close by. The local bus route also services the three resorts outside of town for free, so it’s easy to walk to Aspen Mountain or catch the free bus to one of the other resorts. Most of the dining and nightlife in the area are in the downtown Aspen core, so not only are you close to skiing, but also close to restaurants, shopping and entertainment options.
A convenient option is to fly directly to the Aspen airport, take the free bus to a downtown condo, and walk to the ski slopes every day. At the end of your getaway, simply catch the free bus back to the airport. Since you can walk to everything in town, you don’t need a car.
Choosing Your Accommodations
Lodging options in Aspen range from affordable one-bedroom condominiums to more luxurious private homes, and just about everything in between. Accommodations are typically either older ski lodges or newer resorts, and services and amenities can range from all-inclusive to absolutely nothing.
It’s important to do your homework when reviewing condo or home options. Remember, if you rent a condo or cabin from a private owner, you’re at their mercy. Some owners are great about fixing problems while others are not. We recommend renting from a trusted lodge that offers support 24/7.
Amenities
Amenities are services and features that a hotel or resort offers to guests free of charge. Choosing a hotel with a great amenities package is a perfect way to add more bang to your buck. One of the most popular features is a heated pool and hot tub, which is popular with both adults and children. Laundry facilities are also important because your gear gets wet and dirty and needs to be freshened up daily. Other popular amenities at a ski resort may include ski lockers, boot warmers, free Wi-Fi and cable TV.
Lift One – The Place to Stay
Lift One Condominiums are located at the base of Aspen Mountain in downtown Aspen, within walking distance from historic Lift 1A. The iconic lift gives immediate access to Aspen Mountain without any waiting in line. The vacation resort is within walking distance to downtown Aspen and the Silver Queen Gondola and features a wonderful selection of comfy one-, two- and three-bedroom condominiums at a reasonable price. With a nice selection of king, queen and twin bed configurations, Lift One can accommodate singles, couples, and families, along with larger groups like ski clubs and family gatherings. Units range in décor and style, but all include a full kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, HD cable television, free Wi-Fi, ski lockers, free parking and a private balcony or patio. Other amenities include laundry facilities and an on-site business center for guests.
